Shiplap Lining Boards

Before putting on the paint make sure that your walls are painted appropriately. Shiplap boards have gaps in between each panel hence your wall’s original colour will be exposed in some places. So paint your walls with the same colours as your shiplap or with something that goes with the flow.

Next, measure the size of the wall so that you can determine the correct size of shiplap boards will require.

If possible, mark the studs on the walls. It is best to nail your boards to these studs

After marking your walls and demarcating them with a chalk line, place the first shiplap board. Start from the bottom.

Gradually go up attaching the baseboards. If you want you can place and cut the boards to stagger cut ends. Perform this from row to row and repeat until you reach the end of the row.

1x6 is the most preferred width for shiplap boards.

For designing shiplap boards, mainly pine and MDF are used.
